Childhood Trauma & Healing the Inner Child

Most parents are loving and caring. Most try very hard to raise their children in loving, stable environments.  Unfortunately, some parents see their children as more of a hindrance than a gift.  They may treat their children with contempt and see them as dumping grounds for their own toxic shame.

Children who grow up in toxic environments often develop a negative self-image and they find emotions are triggered easily and can experience emotional flashbacks. Emotional flashbacks can manifest in many ways; they can take the form of anxiety or panic attacks, uncomfortable feelings or violent outbursts.

Every experience you had as a child helped create your core beliefs about yourself and your world.  Positive experiences create positive and helpful core beliefs and negative and upsetting experiences create upsetting core beliefs. Positive and good feeling experiences influence you in the present as do the uncomfortable or traumatic experiences. Left unresolved those unhealed conflicting experiences will influence you throughout your life.

If someone has had a particularly difficult childhood they can develop Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). Survivors of childhood abuse often project their own insecurity and hurt onto others. Inner child healing can help adults who grew up in such environments quiet their inner critic, reduce their anxiety and feel more secure in the world. Most importantly it can help them recognize these patterns and understand them so they don’t hurt others or pass the same issues onto their own children.

Your age does not matter, you will always have your inner child inside of you. That fun and spontaneous part of you that finds joy in little wonderful things is your inner child. Your inner child is also the part of you that may still be caught in self-defeating patterns. He or she can be a vast influence on how you think, feel, and act.  Your inner child is very sensitive. Even the smallest event can wound and follow you throughout your life.

You can overcome these self-defeating influences and patterns from childhood. While in a focused state of relaxation, Hypnotherapy will work side by side with the Inner Child to reveal those forgotten, dismissed, or denied memories to your conscious mind. In doing so you will have the opportunity to transform, comfort, love, and heal the child within you. You can create the safe place you and every child deserves and needs.
